Q&A: Questions and Answers for antiaverage.com

Q: What does "antiaverage" mean, and how do I properly pronounce it?
A: antiaverage (an-tie-av-rij), adj.;
       1. one who desires to be greater than normal or mundane
       2. that which goes beyond the minimum requirement
       3. not typical, usual, or regular; not normal; deviant

Q: What is the purpose of this site?
A: That's a difficult question to answer. This site is not here to sell you something. It is not here to tell you what to do, or even to guide you in any particular direction other than where you want to go or where you are already heading. There are tools to help you; movies, games, and music to entertain you; and a forum to release, let go, and express yourself. I want to see people be themselves, and I want to be myself. Seeing as how I haven't determined the latter, this site will seem scattered and unpredictable. That's life. No, seriously, it is. The sooner you accept that fact, the sooner you'll be able to move on, both in life and here on this site. The look and feel of being here may go through intense mood swings and color changes, both literal and metaphorical (I'm admittedly pretentious, so I can say that. You may also say what you like).

Q: Why white on black?
A: I'm working on allowing you to change the site's color scheme at will, but for now it's only the skin I want. Keeping it static makes things a little easier to deal with, and easier for me to design. Still, that's just a vague answer. More specifically, [announcer's voice]scientists have found that white text on a blue background is the most comforting and easy to read color format for long pieces of text[/announcer's voice]. Yeah, I realize black is not the new blue, but I'm a bit partial to black (not in that Goth kind of way) and I feel it's close enough to blue to be conducive to the same ease of reading. I think your eyes have become too adjusted to black on white. It's not good for you. Staring at that much white slowly eats away at your night vision. I'm serious. The only reason most text is black on white is because it's easier and cheaper to create black ink, and black ink shows up best on white paper. The computer allows me to choose a much better selection of colors for the same price. Just be glad it's not
green on magenta or magenta on green.

Q: If I do a search for "antiaverage" on the Internet, are all of those related to this site?
A: In short, mostly... You see, antiaverage is a word I made up in about 6th grade. I used it and still use it as my screen name for AOL Instant Messenger, thinking it somehow described me (still kind of do). It stuck, and I made this website based on the word for no good reason. The word is my handle and definition. It has served as a pseudonym of mine on many websites, forums, etc. As of my last google search, all references to antiaverage and all instanaces of antiaverage are, in fact, me saving for some kid at zenhex.com, a girl named Katy with the AIM s/n "antiaverage rose", a Renee at blurty.com, and some idiot on mtv.com (yes, even the latin translator reference has to do with me).

Do you have any other questions that you want publicly answered? Well then, join the forums and let me know. I, for the most part, actively post and read. This means you can make requests and suggestions for the site in the forums. Often times I listen and implement your ideas.
